This week was amazing, filled with fun activities and positive emotions! I found the learning method we experienced to be fun, relaxing, and effective for everyone involved. I would definitely like to do something similar next year!
What many children will still remember are the games – oh, the games! There were quite a lot of them, but the ones students would probably mention when asked are Battleships, Change Chairs, Stop the Bus, and Taboo. All of these games required active participation and communication, which doubled the amount of knowledge my classmates and I gained.
As for the native speakers who taught us, only good things come to mind. There were two teachers – Ben Irving and Anil Lobo. They both put a lot of effort into this project and not only taught us the language, but also emphasized respect and discipline, which I find very important.
Ben is from London and has Irish origins. As for Anil, his background is quite diverse. He was born in Mumbai, India; his mother is Canadian, and his father is Portuguese. Interestingly, he says he is Hungarian because his wife is from Hungary, which many people find confusing.
Overall, I am glad I had the opportunity to practice English with native speakers like this, as I rarely get the chance to do so. As I mentioned before, I find this learning method both highly effective and enjoyable. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time I take part in something like this!
Finally, I would like to thank everyone involved in organizing this project for the tremendous amount of effort and time invested in this year’s English Week. I truly enjoyed it!
